Alfred Campos, a 16-year veteran of the police department, was fired after he was charged with possessing a stolen vehicle and perjury. Detectives also say they have proof Campos used his position as a police officer to run a fake Vehicle Identification Number two times through the statewide law enforcement database.
Mark Coleman, a criminal defense attorney with Fresno law firm the Law Offices of Nuttall & Coleman said, “I think that a judge or a jury is going to have to hold him to a higher standard. They are going to say that hey, an average person might not have known, but you should have.”
