Beginning in 1990, Mr. Kayian worked for the Fresno County Public Defender's Office for five years defending various criminal charges, ranging from misdemeanors to felony attempted murder cases. In 1995, Mr. Kayian was employed by the Fresno County District Attorney's Office as an Deputy District Attorney. Prosecuting various criminal charges again ranging from misdemeanors to felony attempted murder cases.

For four years, prior to leaving the District Attorney's office, Mr. Kayian specialized in agricultural crimes. In April of 2006, Mr. Kayian joined the Law Offices of Nuttall & Coleman as an associate, specializing in criminal law.
